The New Westminster and District Band Society is a thriving community band organization serving the entire Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley. Members of the Society’s three bands represent fifteen different municipalities.
Now in its 83rd year of continuous operation, the Society is proud to offer programs from September through June to amateur musicians who range in age from 16 to 65 and over. The atmosphere in each of the bands is one of high expectations within an enjoyable, supportive rehearsal and learning environment. Each of the directors is a master teacher and an excellent musician.
Concerts are scheduled throughout the year and regularly include: a Fall “Pops Concert”, a Christmas Concert, a Spring Concert, and a Father’s Day Concert. In addition other performances are scheduled at festivals, public events, etc. as opportunities arise. (Click on More Information – Concerts above for details on specific events).
The Senior Band rehearses Monday evenings, and the Forté Wind Ensemble, an intermediate level band, rehearses Thursday evenings. Both concert bands rehearse at Richard McBride Elementary school in New Westminster. The Jazz Band rehearses Tuesday evenings in the music room at New Westminster Secondary School.
Please contact us (click on More Information – Contact Us above) if you are interested in playing in one of the Society’s ensembles. Annual fees are $300 with special rates for multiple members of the same family. New members are always welcome!
