Our thanks to all the support that has been given to the band society in 2010!  We had a fantastic year and look forward to an even better 2011.

Rehearsals start the week of January 3rd.

Our thanks go out to all who attended the recent Pops concert on November 15th!  The Senior Concert Band and the Jazz Band played to a full house and a great night was had by all.

We look forward to doing it again in the future.  Please make sure you are on our email list by adding your information in the form on the right.

The Senior and Jazz ensembles of the New Westminster & District Band Society are happy to announce that tickets are now available for our Pops concert on the 15th of November.

The program for this concert will first feature the New Westminster and District Jazz Band under the direction of Kelly Proznick.  The Jazz Band is a full twenty piece jazz ensemble specializing in music of the big band era.  Selections will include a variety of pieces made popular by outstanding ensembles such at the Count Basie Band.

Following intermission, the Concert Band will take the stage under the direction of John White.  This ensemble numbers sixty performers who will delight in presenting a variety of well-known selections and medleys that span a several decades of popular music.   Included in the Band’s program are: “Selections from Fiddler on the Roof”, “Birdland” by Manhattan Transfer, “Brazilian Festival”, “Elvis Presley: His Golden Hits”, “Send in the Clowns”, “Big Band Bash”, etc.

Both bands have programmed a concert full of music designed to engage and satisfy every listener.  Join the bands at James Cowan Theatre on Monday, November 15th and be prepared to hum along!

Hello all New West band members and friends!

The 2010-2011 season begins next week and we look forward to seeing you all back again.  We also hope to welcome new members of all playing ability into the Beginner, Intermediate and Senior ensembles.

First Rehearsal dates are as follows:

• Beginner Band (Thursday, September 9 at 6:00 pm)

• Intermediate Band (Thursday, September 9 at 6:00 pm)

• Senior Band (Monday, September 13 at 6:30 pm)

• Jazz Band (Tuesday, September 7:00 pm at New Westminster Secondary School)

A resounding thank you to everyone who joined us at Queens Park in New Westminster for our annual Fathers Day Concert.

The rain stayed away and an enjoyable afternoon of music was had by all and included a special tribute to Fred Turner in the playing of “Selections from Oliver” and “Colonel Bogey” by current and former members.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

The Senior Ensemble of the New Westminster & District Concert band has recently completed recording of a CD containing repertoire from the recent season.
